In a Chaotic Year, Fundraising for Women and Girls’ Charities is the Best and Worst of Times – Inside Philanthropy

Inside Philanthropy’s new article, In a Chaotic Year, Fundraising for Women and Girls’ Charities is the Best and Worst of Times, writer Holly Hall describes the challenges and opportunities for gender equity funding and its place in the response to the COVID-19 recovery process.

In 2020, a pandemic, political anxiety and a historic protest movement for racial justice are pulling donors’ attention in different directions. That dynamic, combined with related economic uncertainty, has meant that some organizations are experiencing a windfall, while others are struggling to get by, depending on their funding sources and niche within the arena.

Hall investigates the challenges these funding organizations face as corporate support declines and typical fundraising events are cancelled or delayed indefinitely. However, Hall indicates that there is hope to be found in new approaches, such as virtual fundraising events and funding support projects like WFN’s Response, Recovery, and Resilience Collaborative Fund — which is dedicated to providing much needed relief to the women’s funds and foundations who are struggling during this crises.
