Chantal Bonitto
Director of Philanthropy
Chantal Bonitto (she/her) is an organizational leader specializing in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and a seasoned fund development expert within the nonprofit sector. Throughout her career, Chantal has focused on identifying and creating resources for institutions that benefit the most marginalized communities in our society. As a fundraiser, she has developed expertise in Major & Principal Gifts, Direct Response, Community Engagement/Stewardship, and Fundraising Event Planning.
Chantal currently serves as the Director of Philanthropy at Women’s Funding Network, where she leads the development department. In this role, she is responsible for creating and executing annual and long-term development strategies to secure funding for general operations, pooled funds, and campaigns.
In 2019, Chantal spearheaded a new fundraising program focused on next-gen philanthropists and donors of color at Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), serving as the founding Director of Inclusive Philanthropy. In this role, she fostered an intentional focus on engaging diverse donor communities. Chantal is also a Senior Consultant at The Inclusion Firm, a national consulting practice that helps organizations achieve their DEI and advancement goals through modernized philanthropic strategies and enhanced community, volunteer, and donor engagement.
Chantal serves on the boards of Women in Development (WID) New York and Community Resource Exchange (CRE). She is a member of the Advisory Committee for WOC: Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy, a co-creator of the Women Writing Philanthropy: Writing Clinic Program with the Feminist Press, and an inaugural member of the Leadership Network of the Amplify Her Charitable Foundation, where she advises and supports the foundation’s grantmaking strategy.
Professionally, Chantal has worked with leading organizations such as Women Moving Millions, The Thomson Reuters Foundation, Ms. Foundation for Women, CARE USA, UNICEF USA, Asia Society, and The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. She is a graduate of Oberlin College and completed the Fundraising Strategy Certificate Program at The George Heyman, Jr. Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising, New York University. She is also a 21/64 Certified Philanthropic Advisor.
Chantal was honored with the Women’s eNews 21 Leaders for the 21st Century Award (2020) and was selected for the inaugural Leadership Network of the Amplify Her Foundation in 2023. She is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., a mom to two active boys, and the owner of a fabulous Siberian Forest Cat named Zsa Zsa. Chantal and her spouse are based in Westchester, NY.
